Been a long time...

Sun Nov 2, 2008, 11:03 PM
Wow it's been a long time since I've been back to this site. Just sitting here and I figured I'd put an update, just for posterity's sake.

Buhl Day went relatively well, I got an honorable mention for a photo of a goose taking off from the lake there (actually it was being chase by a swan, and didn't really take flight...). However, due to old ladys running the event, I was put under the "Youth" category. I am officially the oldest youth in the Shenango Valley.

I've been being numbed by class, haven't had any time for myself this semester. Finally got to shoot on my own terms a few days ago. Did some portraits in the studio of a friend so I have a sort of senior picture portfolio to show potential 12th grade clients. Gonna post a few of the better ones up.

Working on a series of 4 advertising oriented shots of Fossil watches for a class. May put them up when I'm done depending on how they turn out. Studio work is fun, but I miss just making a shot and that's it, instead of making 150 exposures for 1 final image.

Also, Graphic Design is destroying my mind. Taking a Typography class also which is really fun, but really hard. We'll see if I want to show any of them. If I get the motivation, I might go on a post-a-thon.

That is my life in a nutshell right now. Type, Tungsten and Tenebrosity.

Buhl Day

Mon Aug 25, 2008, 9:27 PM
Well, here in this small town area of ours near the PA border in Northeast Ohio we have this little thing called Buhl Day at the local public park. It's like a kind of festival with music, games, shows, and a small art show of people from the area. This year I've decided to toss a few pics into the art show and see if I can snag me an honorable mention...

The actual show is Labor Day and the deadline's August 30. So... now I need to figure out how to use my sister's mat cutter to make my prints presentable. Wish me luck!

Finals are OVER!

Wed May 7, 2008, 11:49 AM
Yes that's right, after I take my last final (on the history of design..) in two hours, that is IT. I don't know what this means for my photography, but I'm planning on shooting more this summer than I usually do. I mean actually shooting, not taking snapshots of whatever I see. Actually trying out some ideas and trying to better myself as a digital photographer.

The state of my Photography final is turned in. I'm not happy with it, but I have a few ones in there that are kind of good. It was a new experience for me since it was a black and white digital photography class... and I'm usually most concerned with colors. I have 2 self portraits that are very corny and traditional, but I think they turned out nicely. Nothing groundbreaking to see, but not too bad.

That is all. I will try to be more active. Maybe I might actually submit something worth the time it took me to create it. Until then, toodles.

Stop the pets!

Fri Apr 4, 2008, 11:53 PM
I know, I've been on a pet photography kick, don't know what's up with it. Hopefully I can break out of it soon. Maybe I will get some good opportunities soon. I have been feeling in a photographizing mood recently. Come what may.
